| 9General - Victory Day at BFTS
British Flying Training School Museum (BFTS) will be celebrating Victory Day in Europe.
Vintage planes on display (some even fly), activities for the kids, a book signing,
at least one guest speaker, a local amateur radio club will be set up and chatting with
the Radio Society of Great Britain who operates out of Bletchley Park, the Reville Sisters
will be performing at 3 p.m.
The Museum tells the not very well known story of how the United States trained Royal
Air Force cadets to fly during World War II. The No. 1 BFTS Museum is located on the Terrell airport where 2000 cadets were trained to fly from 1941 - 1945. The Museum also
celebrates the close relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.
Our motto is "The Seas Divide, But The Skies Unite". The third leg of the story is how the people of Terrell "adopted" those 17-19 year old cadets who were thousands of miles from home in an uncertain land and facing an uncertain future.
